MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS

To support management, and integrated into management systems, SIA develops support services of greater or lesser complexity, adapted to each organization and its context.

The Legal Compliance Assessment service is essential to ensure that an organization is fully compliant with its applicable legal obligations.
This service involves a detailed and systematic analysis of the organization’s operations, processes and practices to identify areas that need adjustment or improvement in order to comply with legal requirements.
Our auditors carry out a comprehensive audit, analysing the legislation relevant to your sector and mapping out the specific legal requirements that your organization must meet.
The Legal Compliance Assessment process includes:

  1. Compliance Analysis: Thorough verification of practices against applicable legal requirements.
  2. Detailed Reports: Preparation of clear and detailed reports, highlighting any non-conformities and opportunities for improvement.

In addition, SIA can also develop tailored action plans to address the gaps identified, as well as provide support in implementing solutions.

Consultancy service and specialized support in the implementation of management system standards, whether for obtaining certification or not.
With a wealth of experience accumulated over many years, we are ready to help your organization establish efficient and effective management systems.
Our expertise is the accumulation of dozens of projects implemented by various SIA specialists in areas such as quality, environment, health and safety at work, energy, food safety, information security, social responsibility, RDI, sustainability, among others, which you can see in detail in each of our areas of specialization.   Our support, although comprehensive, is tailored to each organization.
Using agile models, we work alongside each organization’s teams, with continuous deliveries, adjusting the timetable, plan and resources to each project’s deadline.
While the goal is to ensure that the management system complies with the applicable standards, we aim to empower the organization to maintain the management system autonomously.   Given our experience, with complete success in previous projects, we can also help you restructure your management system, either by simplifying it or digitizing it.

SIA carries out internal audits of management systems, covering a wide range of standards associated with various crucial issues for organizations.
Thus, SIA carries out internal audits of quality management systems, the environment, occupational health and safety, energy, food safety, information security, social responsibility, RDI (Innovation, Development and Research) and sustainability.
Our auditors have a wealth of experience, accumulated over many years, with each auditor having done dozens, if not hundreds, of days of auditing.
This experience allows us to conduct audits with the crucial purpose of identifying opportunities for improvement so that each system is efficient and effective, without losing focus on ensuring that all the requirements of the audited standards are being met.

Companies often need to assess the extent to which they comply with a particular standard or benchmark.
For this, the Gap Analysis service becomes an essential tool.
It makes it possible to identify the gaps between the current state of the organization and the requirements set out in the standard or benchmark in question.   A Gap Analysis is crucial for defining an action plan and an investment plan, which are mandatory for achieving compliance.
This systematic and detailed process helps the company to clearly understand where the gaps are and what actions are needed to fill them.   Although Gap Analysis is often associated with identifying gaps in compliance with standards such as ISO 9001 (quality), ISO 14001 (environment) or ISO 45001 (occupational health and safety), it can also be applied to other important benchmarks for the organization.
This includes information security standards, social responsibility, food safety, CSRD, among others.   Through Gap Analysis, an organization gains in-depth knowledge of its current practices and can develop the path to achieving and maintaining compliance, ensuring more efficient, safer operations in line with the best market practices.

STUDIES AND EXPERT ADVICE

In an increasingly complex regulatory landscape, organizations are finding it increasingly difficult to maintain internal resources dedicated to complying with certain legal aspects, such as obtaining permits and other licenses.
As an alternative, SIA carries out a range of studies and specialized consultancy aimed at supporting each company to remain compliant with legal requirements, allowing it to focus on its business.

The Due Diligence service is designed to meet the specific needs of compliance and business transactions, providing a thorough and detailed analysis of the status of a particular company, establishment or activity.
Among other things, a due diligence can be carried out: – To comply with the requirements of the new CS3D Directive The CS3D Directive (Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive) requires companies to carry out an assessment of compliance with the new sustainability rules.
Although it is only directly applicable to very large companies, it can have repercussions for other companies in their value chain, both large companies and SMEs.
– In Cases of Acquisition or Sale of a Company: Due Diligence is critical in transactions, acquisition or sale of companies, to ensure that all relevant information is fully assessed.
Due diligence includes checking compliance with all applicable regulations, including environmental, health and safety aspects, and governance practices.
This process is crucial to ensure that all relevant information is known, allowing for informed decision-making and mitigating possible future risks.
In this way, due diligence protects investors’ interests and guarantees the transparency and integrity of the transaction.

SIA has extensive and proven experience in carrying out Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), standing out for the success of all the studies conducted, which have received favorable opinions from the competent authorities.
This track record is the result of SIA’s commitment to technical excellence and strict compliance with regulatory standards, using the appropriate methodologies to assess all the possible environmental effects of each project.   Each EIA, to the extent of the scoping conducted, involves a comprehensive analysis of environmental aspects such as air quality, water resources, soil, biodiversity, and more, ensuring that all potential environmental impacts are considered.
SIA’s collaborative and personalized approach, which adapts its analyses to the specifics of each project, is a key factor in the results obtained.
In addition, a rigorous internal review process ensures the accuracy and compliance of EIAs before submission to the authorities.   SIA also offers support throughout the assessment process, supporting any queries from authorities and providing additional information as required.

In Portugal, companies carrying out different types and sizes of activities may need industrial, environmental or other specific licensing.
SIA offers a complete licensing service, starting with a detailed assessment of the organization’s activities to identify all the necessary licenses.
This includes conducting complementary studies, such as environmental impact studies and risk assessments, to ensure that all legal requirements are met.   SIA integrates these studies into the licensing process, ensuring that all documents are prepared as defined in the legislation or by the competent authorities.
As far as possible, SIA works in collaboration with those authorities to ensure that all aspects of the licensing process are handled effectively, from the initial submission to the final obtaining of each authorization.   Part of the service is continuous support throughout the process, including communication with the authorities, answering requests for clarification and any necessary adjustments to the process.
With the implementation of digital platforms for the instruction of processes, any licensing process is more time-consuming and subject to constraints, however, SIA’s objective remains, to minimize delays and guarantee the compliance of each process.

In Portugal, in certain regulatory regimes, it is required or possible for checks to be carried out by verifiers qualified by the APA (Portuguese Environment Agency).
SIA has APA-qualified verifiers on its staff for: – SGSPAG verification, – Post-EIA verification and – IPPC verification.   The SGSPAG (Safety Management System for the Prevention of Major Accidents) Verification is an audit process of the Safety Management System for the Prevention of Major Accidents.   Post-EIA Verification is carried out after the completion of projects subject to an Environmental Impact Assessment, to ensure that all the conditions and mitigating measures established in the EIA process are being effectively implemented and maintained.   The purpose of IPPC verification is to validate the reports, data or information relating to the monitoring of emissions from installations subject to IPPC and the status of implementation and maintenance of BAT, which are reported annually to the APA.
To date, this information is reported in the Annual Environmental Report (AER).

National and European Union legislation, especially in the area of the environment, increasingly demands detailed studies, reports and information from companies.
These legal requirements can be challenging for organizations to resolve internally.
To help meet these demands and ensure ongoing compliance, SIA has expert and experienced technicians on its team to carry out these services.
These services include annual environmental reports, PRTR registration, chimney height determination, among others.
